YEIDA expects to earn Rs 3,000 crore from selling 367 plots
GREATER NOIDA: Notwithstanding the pandemic, the Yamuna Expressway Authority has received a whopping response to its industrial plot scheme.
Some 3,900 respondents came forth to bid for 367 plots ranging from 300-3,000 sqm across three sectors of 29, 32 and 33. As per preliminary assessments, investments worth Rs 3,000 crore are expected from Friday’s allotment, officials said. The increased interest in the scheme is due to the close proximity of the three sectors to the upcoming international airport at Jewar.
Shailendra Bhatia, OSD to YEIDA, said, “We got a total of 3,910 applications for the 367 plots that were offered across sectors 29, 32 and 33. All the 367 plots were allotted on Friday. The size of plots in these sectors range from 300sqm to a maximum of 3,000sqm. We are yet to study all the applications that were given allotment, but it’s a huge industrial allotment done in the Yamuna expressway area.”
According to Bhatia, job opportunities for about 5,000 people are expected from Friday’s allotment. “If we take a minimum Rs 10 crore investment per industry, the figure is already coming to Rs 3,600 crore. But we cannot say anything confirmed yet as the final projections can be given after the study of the detailed project reports submitted by each applicant,” he said.
The reason for such increased demand for industrial plots, according to officials, is also because of YEIDA’s flagship projects such as Film City, Jewar airport and Medical Devices Park, which have encouraged an environment of investments in the region. “Almost all entrepreneurs want a plot here. The three sectors where the 367 plots have been allotted, are about 2-3km from the upcoming Jewar airport,” Bhatia said.
While the draw of allotments was carried out at the community centre of Sector P 3 Greater Noida, only 10% of the applicants were invited keeping the Covid-safety protocols in mind. The allotment process was streamed live for the remaining applicants.
