Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority to appoint consultant for Film City project

New Delhi: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has invited proposals to appoint consultant to prepare a detailed project report for the upcoming Film City.

The authority had earlier suggested three financial models for development of a 1,000-acre film city in Noida along the Yamuna expressway.

“We have issued request for qualification and will appoint a consultant within 15 days. The consultant will have three months to prepare the feasibility study,” said Arun Vir Singh, chief executive officer of Yeida.

UP’s additional chief secretary Navneet Sehgal had written to the Yamuna authority last week asking to select consultant or developer for the project.

The three suggested models are: authority acting as developer and leasing it to individual applicants, authority leasing the entire land parcel to one developer who then subleases it to applicants or the authority developing it in a public private partnership.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had unveiled a plan to set up a dedicated infotainment city and rolled out an open offer to the film fraternity to come to the state.

The CM had said the government is well aware of the present trend of OTT and media streaming platforms and has planned a high-capacity data centre along with all pre-production and the post-production infrastructure, processing labs, VFX and digital technology of international level.

Yamuna authority has identified 780-acre land for industrial purpose and 220-acre for commercial purpose.

As per the first model, authority will prepare the detailed layout plan of the entire land parcel and will be responsible for the internal and external development.

Other options being explored are to lease it to a single developer or do it in PPP model.
The proposed site is just an hour away from New Delhi and very close to the proposed international airport at Jewar.
