Supertech & Logix Group knock UP-RERA’s door after hefty fines
NOIDA: After imposing fines to the tune of Rs 4 crore on 25 builders for non-compliance of its orders in favour of homebuyers, UP-Rera is now hearing the offenders out one-on-one. Top executives of Supertech Group and the Logix group turned up at the regulator’s door on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, to negotiate and make fresh promises for completion of flats to escape fines.
“The meetings are being held with the erring builders on a one-on-one basis. However, there have been no discussions on whether they would be absolved of the heavy fines if they start delivering the pending units,” Balvinder Kumar, member of UP-Rera, told TOI.
While UP-Rera on January 24 imposed a fine of Rs 2.5 crore on 11 builders for non-compliance of its orders, on February 5, the regulator penalised 14 more developers in the state of Rs 1.9 crore for failing to adhere to its earlier directions. The orders were passed under Section 63 of the Rera Act, which allows the regulator to impose a fine worth 5% of the project cost in case of violations of the Act. At its meeting with Rera members on Wednesday, Supertech promised to deliver 7,000 overdue flats within 2021. The developer is facing a hefty fine of 34 lakh.
RK Arora, chairman of Supertech, said, “We will clear the backlog this year and will update UP-Rera every month about the status. In January, the company gave delivery of 305 units, of which 72 units are in Noida, 147 in Greater Noida, 12 in Yamuna Expressway area and the remaining in other locations. UP-Rera may absolve us of the fines on this condition.”
However, Logix builders could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
Other defaulters listed by the regulator include Parth Infrabuild Radicon Infra, IVR Prime, Harsha Associates, Parsvanath Developers, Green Bay Infra, Green View Cooperative, Quality Township, Rudra Buildwell, Buland Buildtech, Kindle Infraheights and JSS Buildcon. “The regulator is taking very serious note of non-compliance by developers on a daily basis,” another UP-Rera official said.
