Since 1992, only 93 projects in Gurugram got completion certificate
CHANDIGARH: Since 1992, only 93 realty projects in Gurgaon have obtained completion certificate from the town and country planning department.
Another 21 licenses have been cancelled, while 14 licensed colonies are facing action or their licences are in dispute.
All this came to light during the recently concluded monsoon session of Haryana legislative assembly.
The information was revealed in reply to an unstarred question by Badshahpur MLA Rakesh Daultabad to chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who holds the town and country planning department.
The licence to develop a colony is generally granted for five years. The town and country planning department has the power to renew a licence up to another five years, but after the payment of an extension fee by the developer concerned on the basis of formula divised by the department.
As a result, the builder can drag on the project for at least 10-12 years.
Enquiries revealed that 93 developers have handed over their projects to RWA or the concerned civic body.
The remaining 21 licencees have neither obtained the completion certificate nor have they paid the fee for extension of time.
So is the case with the remaining 14 projects whose cancellation process is either pending in department or in various courts of Gurugram district or the Punjab and Haryana high court.
