Property registrations up, Noida to add two more sub-registrar offices
NOIDA: The district administration is planning to open two more sub-registrar offices in Noida. At present, there are six sub-registrar offices, most of them overburdened with paperwork for property registrations, assistant inspector general of registration Shashi Bhanu Mishra said.“The revenue department has submitted a proposal to open two more sub-registrar offices in Greater
Noida and Dadri. The objective behind this initiative is to alleviate the burden on existing offices and expedite property registration procedures,” Mishra said. While an average of 60 to 70 properties must be processed daily by each sub-registrar, the official said, more than 200 registries were being handled at the existing Dadri office and over 150 at the Greater Noida
offices daily
“Consequently, people have to wait longer to get properties registered while both these sub-registrar’s offices are crowded from morning till evening. Due to the workload, papers too cannot be scrutinized properly,” Mishra said. To further streamline the documentation process, the department proposes to hire additional staff for the helpdesk at the sub-registrar offices, ensuring better assistance for the public in completing their
paperwork. The sub-registrar offices of the revenue department at the district level are responsible for the registration
of properties bought and sold, deeds and gifts involving substantial amounts. The stamp duty charged for documentation is a major source of revenue for the government.
A total of 1.4 lakh properties, including plots, were registered across Gautam Budh Nagar in the 2022-23
financial year, generating Rs 3,018 crore in stamp duty and registration fees, according to the department
of registration and stamps. In the previous financial year, 1.2 lakh properties were registered, bringing in
Rs 2,377 crore in revenues.
