Over 85,000 apply for 477 YEIDA residential plots
NOIDA: The Noida International Airport has proved to be a game changer for the Yamuna Expressway Authority. Breaking all past records, more than 85,000 people applied for 477 residential plots till Thursday morning.
This number is likely to touch one lakh by Friday midnight when the scheme registration closes, said officials.
Under this scheme, the 477 plots of nine different sizes ranging from 60 sqm to 2,000 sqm are available. These plots will be allotted in five sectors of the Yamuna Expressway region through a draw of lots.
A maximum number of 44,349 applications have been received for 226 plots of 120 sqm size while 1,000 people have applied for 12 plots of 1,000 to 2,000 sqm sizes, officials said.
Last year, YEIDA brought out residential plot schemes twice, but the number of applicants was less than half. The numbers were quite dismal in 2019 and 2020 also.
YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh said, “There has been an overwhelming response for the residential plot scheme this time. This is the highest number of applications received for any YEIDA housing scheme so far. People are quite enthusiastic about it.”
YEIDA launched the scheme on September 7 with a deadline of one month (October 7) for submitting the application. It was later extended to October 14. “Keeping the interest factor in mind, we had also extended the last date of filing the application,” Singh said.
The maximum number of 262 plots are available in 120 sqm size, followed by 67 in 200 sqm and 56 in 300 sqm. There are just four plots in 2,000 sqm size, eight in 1,000 sqm and five 500 sqm sizes. These are located in sectors 16, 18, 20 and 22D.
Officials said 3,154 applications are for 60 sqm plots, 7,766 for 90 sqm, 4032 for 160 sqm, 1,1057 for 200 sqm, 11,719 for 300 sqm, 737 for 500 sqm, 800 for 1,000 sqm and 181 for 2,000 sqm. Under the scheme, applicants who opt for one-time payment will be given first priority in allotment of plots, while those who pay 50% of the amount in a lump sum and the remaining 50% in installments will be considered next. The last preference will be those who opt for 30% of payment in a lump sum and 70% in installments.
