North Delhi civic body to transfer eight land pockets to DMRC
NEW DELHI: North Delhi Municipal Corporation has agreed to transfer eight land pockets near Madhuban Chowk, Prashant Vihar, Mongolpuri and Peeragarhi to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for construction of the Janakpuri to Majlis Park MRTS corridor. The proposal was approved at a House meeting on Thursday.
All eight pockets belong to the horticulture department of the north corporation and of them, five will be utilised for constructing the entry and exit of the MRTS stations or their buildings. The remaining three have been planned to be transferred for temporary use (three years minimum) and will be utilised as workplaces.
Horticulture officials from Karol Bagh and Rohini zones earlier carried out field inspections of all the sites along with DMRC officials and submitted no objection reports, according to the proposal that has been approved.
“The five pockets of land located at Mongolpuri, Peeragarhi and Prashant Vihar are measuring around 5,456 sqm and will be transferred at a cost of Rs 13.4 crore. Similarly, for the remaining three pockets of land at Madhuban Chowk, Mongolpuri and Prashant Vihar, measuring 8,230 sqm, there is a plan to charge an amount of Rs 1.7 crore,” the proposal stated.
Removal of any encroachment or illegal construction will be the responsibility of the allottee and DMRC has to get the construction plan approved from the corporation.
