Noida authority installs 20,000 LED lights across 61 villages

NOIDA: Noida Authority has completed installation of 20,000 LED lights across 61 villages
under its area. These lights have been installed in chaupals, lanes, community centres and
government schools across these villages.
While Rs 21.22 crore have been spent on 180 such installations across the city, development
works of drains sewers, community centres and repairs were also carried out. Some of the
villages that have benefited from these lights and development works include Morna, Nithari,
Aghapur, Parthala, Sorkha, Hoshiyarpur, Mamura, Gejha amon others.
“Noida Authority has undertaken the work of all-round development of the villages located in the
notified area of Noida. Under this, various development works of sewers, drains, parks,
community centres, schools, repairs of roads etc have been underway,” said Rajeev Tyagi chief
general manager Noida Authority. This included about 180 works which were completed in Rs
21.22 crores.
LED lights reduce carbon emissions as compared to traditional sodium lights, which is indirectly
helpful in reducing pollution. “LED lights also use less electricity consumption than traditional
lights,” said Tyagi.
Overall, Noida Authority has installed over one lakh (1,15,472) LED streetlights across the city
so far. Out of these, 83,554 are in urban areas while industrial areas account for 12,953 LED
streetlights. Out of these 76,499 LED street lights are installed by Tata Projects Ltd and 26,020
lights were procured by Noida Authority from Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) under a
renewable energy service company (RESCO) model – that provides energy to consumers from
renewable energy sources.
The authority has also released a toll-free number 18001029574 as well as a mobile app Noida
Smart LED Light which can be downloaded from the google play store on any android or other
phones for all complaints regarding the non-functioning of these lights.
