Mayor tells Gurugram civic body, DTCP to speed up takeover of 11 private colonies
GURUGRAM: Mayor Madhu Azad on Tuesday directed the MCG and town and country planning department (DTCP) officials to expedite the work to takeover 11 private colonies. In a meeting chaired by Azad on Tuesday, she told the officials that the residents living in these colonies have demanded that the takeover should happen at a faster pace.
“It was informed in the meeting that the officials have sought consent of the private developers for the takeover and asked a private consultant to prepare a detailed project report,” Azad said.
The process of takeover of 11 private colonies — Malibu Towne, Vipul World, Mayfield Garden, Sushant Lok-2, 3, Greenwood City, Rosewood City, Ardee city, Uppal housing, DLF-4 and 5 is going on. The mayor said that the proposal of takeover of these private colonies was tabled in a House meeting and was approved unanimously.
“We were asked to submit service estimates of 11 private colonies to be taken over by the MCG. DTCP has submitted those estimates to the MCG. Now these estimates should be checked on site, assess any other deficiencies and prepare estimates to work on those deficiencies. Our department will then recover that amount from the builder or private developer and hand it over to the municipal corporation,” said Sanjeev Mann, senior town planner, Gurugram.
When asked about the status of the takeover, MCG’s chief engineer Raman Sharma said that the civic body is still identifying the infrastructural deficiencies of these 11 private colonies. Sources said that DTCP had submitted the estimates nearly two weeks ago, however, no progress was made in these two weeks due to which the review meeting was convened by the mayor on Tuesday.
“The proposed takeover is delayed and that is why we (councillors) met the chief minister. He gave us assurance that the work will be expedited,” said Kuldeep Yadav, councillor of ward 29.
