Haryana empowers SDMs, city magistrates to register property documents

CHANDIGARH: In a significant decision that may bring major changes in the process of property registration in the state of Haryana, the Haryana government has designated all the sub divisional magistrates
(SDMs) and city magistrates as sub registrars and joint subregistrars. An announcement in this regard was made by the Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday while addressing a press conference on the occasion of Haryana day.

This step will certainly facilitate the general public, especially, the farmers and the rural masses to go to the offices of all these officers at any place within the limits of the concerned District, within which the property to which such a document
relates is situated. The CM said that this step will also eliminate the inconvenience to the public due to the absence of a particular officer at the time of their visit particularly at District and Sub-Division Headquarter due to having such powers of registration of
documents by many officers of the rank of City Magistrate, Sub Divisional Officer (Civil), Tehsildays and Naib Tehsildars concurrently.
