Haryana CM promise permanent electricity connections to 13 societies

GURUGRAM: Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday announced that residential colonies of 13 developers who were facing power woes will soon get permanent electricity connection.

According to the CM, a policy has been worked upon and supply of connections will start latest by December 21. “The residential colonies of these developers have been taking their power supply on Gensets which is also a reason for the pollution, as the Supreme Court has also said it. We have decided that if the residents submit the pro rata, we are ready to provide services. Once the builders give the pro rata, the residents will get it back,” CM Khattar said to a gathering of reporters on Friday.

Khattar said the electrical department will try to recover the money from the builders, and the builders will also call a meeting. “Power connections will begin to be supplied on December 21 and infrastructure will be constructed where it is needed,” he said.

An official from the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHVBN) said that backto-back talks are taking place to figure out how to solve the residents’ electricity problems. “We have been in touch with the government for the last six months. Our last meeting was in November. Then too, they had said that within 10 days they will find a solution. If it happens, we will be very happy because what’s the fault of the residents who are living in these areas,” said KK Divewdi, general secretary,
Gurgaon home developers and plot owners association.

These are those colonies whose developers have failed to clear dues of over Rs 317 crore for creating infrastructure. They have failed to set up requisite infrastructure despite repeated notices. Despite this, the electricity department continued to provide new connections in the area until July this year, when they halted issuing connections until infrastructure was built.
