Gurugram: Toll-free number for property ID errors
GURUGRAM : With an increase in the number of complaints related to property tax, MCG on
Saturday launched a toll-free number (1800-180-1061) for residents. The complaints from the
call centre will be directed to the officials concerned so that people don’t have to run from pillar
to post to get their grievances resolved.
After new property IDs were generated following a recent survey, it created a lot of confusion
among owners who complained of wrong addresses and names.
“The new tax ID is not working properly. My house tax is in minus. A team visited my home for a
survey and issued a bill. People who are coming for the surveys hardly have any information
and are distributing wrong bills, taking property pictures and they are not even equipped to edit
any incorrect information. A majority of the bills issued in our sector are incorrect. Those who
have one or two floors have been issued bills for three to four floors,” said Neetu Mehta Sodhi, a
resident of Sector 22B.
Some residents pointed out that though their names and other details were correct in the old
IDs, the new documents have incorrect information.
“I have been paying my property tax timely for the past several years and all my personal and
permanent address details were fine. Recently, I received an advisory notice for tax by post, and
it shows an incorrect permanent address,” said Lalit Badhwar, a resident of DLF-1.
“The authorities failed to even transfer data from the old IDs. The addresses of houses, the
names of the owners are all wrong,” said Prashant Sharma, a resident of E block in DLF-1.
The residents had earlier appealed to MCG to hold camps and resolve the complaints related to
property tax. “We had requested the officials to hold camps, but there was no confirmation on
that. Every day, we have been getting complaints about errors in the new property tax IDs. The
senior citizens are suffering the most since they are not tech-savvy,” said Dhruv Bansal,
administrator and spokesperson for the Qutub Enclave RWA.
