Gurugram to soon get 1,000 acre Global City
CHANDIGARH: Haryana’s business capital Gurugram would soon get a Global City in 1,000
acre area on the pattern of Dubai’s Business Bay. The trendy professional hub would have
swanky residential complex, hotels, commercial and service sector infrastructure.
The Global City would be developed by the Haryana State Industrial Infrastructure Development
Corporation (HSIIDC) and the tender process to develop the infrastructure would start in the
next 30 days.
A heliport would also be developed in around 25-acre area. The government would not need to
acquire land as HSIIDC already has around 1,000 acres that the Reliance Industries returned
after its project was cancelled.
A meeting regarding the project was held on Thursday in which deputy chief minister Dushyant
Chautala, who is also industries and commerce minister, held discussions with the HSIIDC
officials. The deputy chief minister said the work on the project would begin in the first quarter of
2022.
“The project would be developed in different phases. First of all, HSIIDC would develop the
infrastructure, then the auction of first phase would be done. It would be entirely on the lines of
Dubai’s Business Bay. The project is on the area of Garhi Harsaru and other villages along the
Dwarka Expressway. Considering the importance of its location, the proposed Global City would
not only be a unique business hub of the but also of the country,” he added.
The project would have huge towers as the permissible FAR would be 3.5 for this hub. There
will total four towers in the proposed project and the expected height would be around 60-70
floors. Excluding the industries, the project will have residential, commercial and service sector
buildings. It would be developed in such a way that all the basic amenities would be provided
underground.
Sources said that in the first phase, the project would be developed on 50-100 acres and the
expected per acre cost would be around Rs 55 crore. The tender process to allot the work
before auctioning the area would be done with next 30 days. Sources in the department said
that these state-of-the-art projects would not only be commercial hubs of the state but would
also revenue generators for the debt-ridden HSIIDC.
Dushyant also informed that HSIIDC has around 208 acre land in Manesar on which the
department is planning to develop a theme park and that expression of interest would be invited
from the global companies for its development. He claimed that the financial condition of the
HSIIDC has improved in the past few years and now the target is to make it a profit-making
company.
