Gurugram: Residents of Emaar Gurgaon Greens protest against builder
GURUGRAM: Upset over the indifferent attitude of the developer towards their concern, the residents of Emaar Gurgaon Greens in Sector 102 began an indefinite sit-in protest on Monday. They claimed that the society is facing several issues, including poor security, lack of horticulture and house keeping maintenance, despite paying hefty charges at Rs 3.65 per sqft.
Several complaints have been made to the concerned authorities, including at the CM Window, in the last two years, but all pleas have fallen on deaf ears, they alleged. The residents said that they are left with no option but to hold a peaceful sit-in protest to highlight their grievances. They will be sitting in two shifts (morning and evening) for three hours daily.
“The builder has collected crores through electricity bills in the name of minimum monthly charge and common electricity charge. At the time of possession in 2019, we were forced to pay two years’ advance common area maintenance charges. Now we are paying the charges on a quarterly basis which is on the higher side as compared to other societies but they are not even spending half the amount on maintenance,” said Parikshit Yadav, a resident.
The representative of the developer remained unavailable for comments.
The residents alleged that the builder formed a nominated condominium association in August 2018, which has been misappropriating the funds collected from the residents as common area maintenance and electricity charges. They pointed out that no annual general meeting has been called by the condominium association and no financial audit reports have been shared with residents.
“We were not aware about the condominium association registered by the developer as none of the members of the governing body has ever seen in the society. No AGM has ever been called,” said Sandeep Fogat, another resident said.
