Gurugram: Pyramid Urban Homes residents say builder yet to build 33 kV infra

GURUGRAM: Residents of Pyramid Urban Homes 2 in Sector 86 have complained about
frequent power outages and voltage fluctuations in their society.
According to the residents, 11 kV feeder lines supply power to their flats. The developer, they
claimed, is yet to build a 33 kV switching station despite collecting an average of Rs 50,000 per
flat as electricity infrastructure development charges. The result is two-three hours of power cuts
daily.
“The builder has obtained an 11 kV temporary electricity connection. There are regular power
cuts here, causing hardship to those working from home and affecting the studies of children.
Even this winter, when consumption is less, we face regular power cuts. Most of the residents
have installed inverters, but sometimes, those also run out of batteries,” said RK Jain, one of the
residents.
The developer started giving flats to homeowners in December 2020. Over 600 families live in
the society, which has 863 apartments. They have registered complaints on the matter, said the
families, but neither the developer nor the electricity department paid any heed to their problem.
“The developer does not respond to us and is always evasive when we ask about the 33 kV
switching station. The developer and the discom keep passing the buck. There is no
transparency in electricity billings. We are charged Rs 6.5 per unit and give Rs 200 per month
as fixed charges,” said another resident Vijay Singh Saroa.
TOI could not reach the developer for comment despite repeated tries.
When contacted, Gaurav Dahiya, SDO Manesar, said, “There is no shortage of power supply
from our side. All developers from sectors 58-115 need to construct the 33 kV switching station,
individually or with other builders. We have been asking them to do that at the earliest.”
