Gurugram: Nine structures demolished for flouting building rules

GURUGRAM: The enforcement team of MCG on Friday demolished nine properties that encroached on the civic body’s premises, which were earlier sealed by it for violations.

District town planner RS Batth said the enforcement team along with SDO and field staff visited the area after several people complained that a few property owners were illegally using the sealed premises.

“These buildings were sealed. Also, show- cause notices and demolition orders were issued to them. The team visited these properties, sealed a few of them again and demolished the ones which committed non-compoundable violations,” said Batth.

He also said the property owners and builders were directed to strictly adhere to the directions of MCG. They were also urged to apply for the MCG’s permission which is mandatory. Apart from this, around 75 notices were issued to illegal commercial establishments being run in residential plots in Sushant Lok-1.

During a survey conducted by the enforcement team of town and country planning department on March 22, the team found that people have made salons, gyms, grocery shops, property dealers’ offices in the plots. According to residents, these were causing nuisance in the neighbourhood.

The department had received various complaints and the issue was also raised in the MCG’s House meeting. Batth said the notices have been pasted on the properties which violated the norms and if the property owners fail to take measures, the buildings will be sealed.

The department will carry out a sealing drive within 15 days, he said, adding that no commercial activities, barring a few, can be operated from residential buildings.
