Gurugram: Indiabulls Centrum Park residents protest against mobile tower installation
GURUGRAM: A group of residents of Indiabulls Centrum Park located in Sector 103 protested against the installation of a mobile tower in their society. Citing health concerns, the protesters registered police complaints against the RWA and the developer on Sunday.
In June 2021, the RWA allowed the installation of a temporary cell on wheels (COW), for which it signed a letter of intent with a private company for one year, claimed residents. They argued that as per the 2017 guidelines of communication and connectivity infrastructure policy, COW operations could continue for 180 days or during special events. However, the company built a permanent ground-based mobile tower adjacent to the B and H towers of the society.
In August, residents filed a complaint with the deputy commissioner, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) and the department of town and country planning (DTCP), but nothing has changed on the ground. Residents claimed that the company energised the mobile tower last week without requisite permission.
Nutan Sharma, a resident, said, “The mobile tower in such proximity will adversely and irreparably impact our health. We are not against any technology, firm or association. But out of concern for our loved ones, we are urging the company to shift the mobile towers to a safer location.”
Meanwhile, Gajender Singh, RWA president of the society, said, “We have been facing network issues for a long time, and most residents wanted to resolve the issue. Only a few are opposing the installation. The private company has ensured all compliances for the work. However, some residents have already filed a complaint with the competent authorities, and we will comply with what they say.”
A representative with the developer said, “The decision was made by the RWA keeping in mind the interest of residents, and we have no role in this. The RWA carried out the agreement, and it is coordinating with the company.”
