Gurugram: Fire department seals Malibu Towne’s club for flouting rules
GURUGRAM: In a first, the fire department has sealed the club of a residential society for violation of fire safety norms and has also written to Gurgaon police for registration of FIR against the developer.
During an inspection, no firefighting system was found at the premises of Maple Club in Malibu Towne, and the developer failed to install it within the stipulated time, officials from the department said.
The department inspected the club on January 7 on the complaint of a Malibu Towne resident Raman Sharma. During the inspection, it was found that no firefighting system was installed in the premises. On January 12, the fire department issued a notice with the direction to get it installed or the fire safety no-objection certificate (NOC) will be cancelled. On February 12, fire officials again visited the club and found it hadn’t been installed despite the notice.
“Maple Club is an assembly building for social gatherings from time to time and the basement of the same is in very poor condition. The omission on the part of Malibu Estate is not only violating the provisions of Haryana Fire Service Act, 2009, but also causing danger to the lives and property of the visitors. Therefore, we have requested police to register an FIR,” said assistant divisional fire officer Isham Singh Kashyap.
The department of town and country planning (DTCP) had rejected the completion certificate of the township for failure to complete the construction of community sites in November. The township has around 16 approved community sites, out of which only 11 have been constructed as per the norms.
The developer of Malibu Towne could not be reached for a comment.
