Gurugram: Finally, new power connections for flats at Vipul World

GURUGRAM: DHBVN has finally started releasing new electricity connections to Vipul World, a housing society on Sohna road in Sector 48, with the developer handing over the required bank guarantee of Rs 10 crore and land to the power discom for the construction of a 33 KV substation.

On Monday, three flats in the society received new electricity meters – much to the relief of some 200 families who are unable to move into their new houses in the absence of a power connection.

The discom had stopped issuing fresh connections due to its deficit power infrastructure. DHBVN had repeatedly asked the developer to submit the bank guarantee and hand over 500 square yards for constructing the substation.

In the past one year, the residents had organised a series of protests and raised the matter with different authorities.

BJP leader Jawahar Yadav, former OSD to CM Manohar Lal Khattar, who had intervened for the early release of fresh electricity connections, was present in the society on Monday for the installation of the first three meters. “Electricity is everyone’s right and it’s the state’s responsibility to ensure power supply to every household,” he said.

Jaiveer Yadav, RWA president of Vipul World blocks B, C and D, said that hundreds of people were facing problems as the discom had stopped releasing fresh connections.

Superintending engineer of DHBVN’s Gurgaon circle-2, PK Chauhan, said, “The bank guarantee was the primary demand. The change of land use is in process, but we have started to provide new connections.”
