Gurugram: DTCP serves notices to 70 over commercial activities on residential plots
GURUGRAM: Intensifying its drive against illegal commercial activities being carried from
residential plots in licensed colonies, the department of town and country planning (DTCP) has
served notices to the owners of 70 such plots in Sushant Lok 1 on Tuesday.
The department has served show cause notices to these property owners and sought their
replies in a week on the complaints. “They have been asked to furnish permission letters from
authorities. If they fail to furnish the documnets, the department will issue restoration orders
after which sealing or demolition orders will be passed,” an official said.
According to DTCP norms, the property owners have to take permission from the department to
run commercial activities permitted under non-nuisance professional consultancy
services.“These services include doctors , lawyers, tax consultants, architects (without studio),
contractor consultants, chartered accountants, company secretaries, property consultants and
tourist guides. Non-nuisance professional activities are those which are carried out by an
individual using his/her personal skills and intelligence,” said district town planner (enforcement)
Manish Yadav.
The residents meanwhile have been opposing the commercial activities citing overburdened
infrastructure, traffic issues and security concerns. “Some property owners after procuring
occupation certificates from the government are making changes in the buildings for commercial
activities. They are running commercial activities including gyms, salons, showrooms, clinics,
educational institutions and others without permission from the authorities,” said SS Rai, a
resident of Sushant Lok 1.
Meanwhile, DTCP is also carrying out surveys of houses in licensed colonies in order to identify
commercial activities being run in violation of the provisions.
