Gurugram civic body’s estimate to complete deficient infrastructure in four colonies ready

GURUGRAM: MCG has prepared estimates to complete deficient infrastructure in four of the
eight private colonies it took over five months ago. It has made the estimates after a fresh
survey done on the ground after the takeover, which will now be sent to the state government for
final approval.
Officials said the highest estimate is for Vipul World, where a total amount of Rs 8.22 crore is
required to complete deficient infrastructural work such as laying of road, water and sewer
networks.
In Malibu Towne, the estimated cost to complete deficient infrastructure is around Rs 8 crore,
which will cover recarpeting and repairing of roads and upgrade of water and sewer lines.
For Rosewood City, the estimated amount, as per the new survey, is Rs 1.8 crore, which will be
spent on recarpeting of roads in the colony. A tender for the project has already been floated.
For Uppal Southend, an estimate of Rs 90 lakh has been made for recarpeting of roads.

“We have made new estimates to complete the deficient infrastructure in some colonies recently
taken over. Our consultants have made the new estimates on the basis of current requirements
in these colonies. After approval of the estimates, tenders will be floated and work orders will be
issued to complete works. We are soon going to start the work,” a senior MCG official said.
The civic body has taken over four other private colonies, including Sushant Lok-2 and 3, Ardee
City and Greenwood City. The takeover of Mayfield Gardens is still pending despite clear
directions from the department of town and country planning (DTCP). According to a DTCP
order issued on May 9, the estimated cost to complete deficient infrastructure is Rs 14.7 crore
for Malibu Town, Rs 8.9 crore for Vipul World, Rs 4.5 crore for Rosewood City and Rs 3.6 crore
for Uppal Southend. MCG, however, prepared the new estimates on the basis of a fresh survey.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the residents met Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, who was in
Gurgaon on Monday, and raised the issue of delays in completing deficient infrastructural work
in the colonies recently taken over.
“Without the execution of the deficiency project report, how do we expect infrastructure upgrade
in these colonies? There are issues related to water and sewer lines and our roads are in bad
shape. Residents had high expectations from MCG after the takeover but the entire process has
been slowed down. We raised the issue with the CM on Monday and have also discussed it with
the deputy commissioner,” said Gauri Sarin, the convener of Making Model Gurugram, a
citizens’ group.
