Gurugram civic body panels set up for survey to regularise illegal colonies

GURUGRAM: The municipal corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) constituted ward-wise teams to start surveying unauthorised residential colonies falling in the civic body’s jurisdiction.

If the colonies meet the criteria set by the government, they will be covered under the regularisation policy. Each team comprises junior engineers and patwaris, who will cover 60 unauthorised colonies.

The teams have been directed to submit their respective reports by April 30.

The district town planner (DTP) has been made the nodal officer for the regularisation project and the teams will report to him, said an MCG official.

According to the revised norms issued by the Haryana government to regularise residential colonies, if a colony is 25% developed, 35% of the total colony area will have to be reserved for roads, parks and other infrastructure. No road should be less than nine metres in width and the approach road should not be less than 12 metres in width.

The other categories include colonies with a built-up area between 25% and 50%, between 50% and 75% and more than 75%.

For colonies with a built-up area between 25% and 50%, roads should not be less than six metres width and the approach road should not be less than 10 metres in width. For colonies with a built-up area between 50% and 75%, no roads in the area should be less than six metres in width. If the width is less than six metres, plot holders will have to leave some space to ensure that the road has a minimum width of six metres.
