Gurugram civic body demolishes an illegal colony being redeveloped again

GURUGRAM: A five-acre prime land on Old Delhi Road was cleared by the enforcement team of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) on Monday.

District town planner (enforcement) R S Batth carried out the demolition drive and razed an illegal colony which was being redeveloped by the builder. Earlier, the civic body had razed the same illegal colony but it was being constructed again.

Talking to TOI, Batth said the illegal colony was being developed behind Rajput Vatika on a five-acre land.

At the time when enforcement team reached the spot, the builder was constructing the road network and other basic amenities for the plots which were still lying vacant, he said.

Batth added the earthmovers, being used by the builder, were taken by the enforcement team to demolish the road network and other facilities. The pipes being laid were demolished and the road was dug up. The official informed that the builder has been warned against restarting the construction, failing which police action would be initiated against him.
