Gurugram: Central Plaza Mall owners’ association to face audit
GURUGRAM: The district registrar has ordered an audit of the financial records of the owners’ association formed for the maintenance of Central Plaza Mall after several complaints of irregularities and siphoning off of funds. Last year, the office-bearers of the association were booked for alleged embezzlement of over Rs 12 crore.
Located along Golf Course Road in Sector 53, the mall has around 60 shops, which were handed over by the builder to their owners in 2007. The Central Plaza Mall Owners’ Welfare Association was formed in 2008. A year later, another society — Central Plaza Mall Occupants’ Welfare Association — started functioning.
There was a conflict of interest between the members of the associations. Both the societies were merged and the Central Plaza Owners’ Welfare Association was given charge of the mall’s upkeep in November 2012.
Meanwhile, several owners filed complaints alleging that the new association called a special general body meeting in violation of norms. The complainants also sought an audit. In 2018, an auditor was appointed.
The district registrar of firms and societies, Sanjit Kaur, earlier this week directed the management of the association to immediately provide all the documents as and when required by the auditor.
