Group of students clash at private university in Greater Noida
A video of a violent clash between two groups of students on a private university campus in Greater Noida is being widely shared social media, prompting the police to suo motu inquire into the incident.
According to police, there was an altercation between first and second-year students of Galgotias University over the use of an elevator and it escalated into a brawl on Tuesday. A few students have already been suspended, however, even though no official complaint has been lodged in the matter, police said.
Sanjay Kumar Singh, station house officer, Dankaur police station, said the university administration is cooperating with the police and taking appropriate action.
“The university has suspended five students, and parents and guardians of the students involved have also been summoned. The university has set up an internal inquiry to look into the incident and take necessary action,” the SHO said.
“An initial inquiry has found that the argument broke out over using the lift and later it turned violent,” the officer added.A senior official of the university said they are taking strict action against the students involved. The university administration has also assured parents that the matter will be investigated thoroughly, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
