Greater Noida: Himalaya Pride residents allege tower E blocks walkway
GREATER NOIDA: Residents of the Himalaya Pride society in Greater Noida have alleged that the builder blocked their walkway, made two floors on it between towers A and B and named it tower E.
As a result, they have to walk 100 metres extra every day. While they have complained to the Greater Noida Authority, officials are waiting for a ground report.
Naresh Nautiyal, a tower A resident, said, “This E tower was not in our layout plan, which the builder showed us in 2012. When we bought our flat, this was our green area cum entry and exit.”
He added after building the E tower, the builder constructed gates and latched them, restricting movement and forcing residents to take the longer route.
Around 1,172 residents currently live in the society, which has four towers — A,B,C,D and E. Residents of nearly 200 flats are affected due to the walkway block.
“The illegal tower was constructed in 2016 by the builder, who has floated three different brochures at different times and mentions a new tower in the latest one, which came out in 2015. The residents got possession of flats in 2018,” said Nautiyal
Mahendra Thapliyal, another resident, said, “I read in the newspaper about the change in the original plan in 2015. I had gone to the authority to complain about it. However, the authority said I am the only buyer opposing it. Since no one lived in the society at the time, no one knew about tower E. The authority has set up an enquiry now but should have acted earlier.”
GNIDA additional CEO Amandeep Duli said, “The tower appears illegal to me. However, the head of planning will make a report after a visit to the society and give it to me on Tuesday. Based on it, GNIDA will take action — seal the tower or impose a penalty on the builder.”
The builder said there are no irregularities from its side, and the tower is legal, adding that it has obtained an OC for tower E.
