Greater Noida authority tells Supertech to seek IIT audit of Ecovillage-1

GREATER NOIDA: The Greater Noida authority has sent a notice to the builder of Supertech Ecovillage 1, asking it to seek a structural audit report from the Indian Institute of Technology in a month.

The decision came after officials visited the society on June 29 following complaints from residents that the peripheral road in front of towers D5 and D7 leading to Gate number 1 of Ecovillage 1 had sank ostensibly due to ongoing work at the sewage treatment plant (STP) of the society.

The road has an under-construction basement below it, which would become the basement for towers F5, F7 and D5 once built, and the basement pillars have been twisted and fractured due to the STP work.

Amandeep Duli, the additional chief executive officer of the Greater Noida Authority, told TOI, “The project and planning departments inspected the society and witnessed cracks in the basement columns and the driveway in front of towers F7 and D5 of Supertech Ecovillage 1. We have given one month to the builder to get a structural audit done from IIT. Generally, the report comes from IIT Roorkee/ Delhi, but our bylaws permit all IITs.”

On July 3, the residents had protested, demanding an audit. Shailendra Gupta, a resident, said, “We have been demanding a structural audit. Everyone knows what happened in Chintels Paradiso. We are scared.”

A spokesperson for the builder refused to comment on the issue, citing the ongoing NCLT case involving Supertech.
