Flouted building norms & no nod yet, colony razed in Gurugram
GURUGRAM: The department of town and country planning (DTCP) along with police on Sunday
demolished a warehouse in an illegal colony, a concrete plant and a transport office spread over five acres.
According to the department, the colony was being developed without any permission and the structures
were constructed in violation of the norms.
District town planner (enforcement) Manish Yadav said a demolition drive was carried out successfully at
three locations namely a transport office in the revenue estate of Bilaspur village in the controlled area
of GMDA, an RMC plant wherein four rooms and two store rooms with tin sheets were demolished and a
warehouse in an unauthorised colony having an area measuring approx. 05 acre, in the revenue estate
of Bhodakala village in the urban area of Gurgaon. Apart from Yadav, the demolition team included two junior engineers and naib tehsildar and SHO from
Bilaspur police station.
During the drive, people gathered at the site and officials appealed to them that they should not invest
their hard earned money in such unauthorised colonies and they should contact the office of DTP for any
enquiry before buying any land/plot.
The official said these colonies were being developed without any permission from the concerned
department in violation of Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act 1975. He said the violation of the Act is a punishable offence with imprisonment up to 3 years, therefore, the
department will soon register a police complaint against the offenders. “We have also written to police to
stop the development of unauthorised colonies,” he said. According to the Section 3 of the building code, nobody can erect or re-erect buildings in a licenced colony without seeking permission.
