DTCP razes five illegal colonies in Gurugram, frees up 12 acres

GURUGRAM: The enforcement team of the directorate of town and country planning (DTCP)
has cleared 12 acres of prime agricultural land by razing five illegal colonies.
During the demolition drive, the team razed unauthorised structures, road networks, and
boundary walls. The officials also directed locals to not invest in such colonies without checking
their status with the department.
District town planner (enforcement) Manish Yadav said a demolition drive was carried out in five
unauthorised colonies with the help of the police force.

“Two unauthorised colonies in Gaushala Colony measuring four acres in the revenue estate of
village Farruknagar in Gurgaon were razed. Around 10 unauthorised structures with 700 metre
road network and 150 metre boundary wall were demolished,” he said.
Another two acres of unauthorised colony in the revenue estate of Farruknagar in Urban Area
where nine structures and boundary wall with road network were demolished. Two more
unauthorised colonies of 6.5 acres near Savera College wherein 17 structures and road network
were completely demolished.
According to the officials, people who gathered at the site during the demolition were asked not
to invest their hard-earned money in such unauthorised colonies and they should contact the
office of DTP for any enquiry before buying land.
As per the DTCP complaint, the land falls within the urban area limit of Gurgaon. “Section 3 of
Act no. 8 of 1975, provides that the land owner shall get a licence before carving out a colony
within the urban area from the competent authority. Section 7 (i) of the Act of 1975 prohibits
subdivision intention to subdivision of land for carving out the colony. Section 7 (ii) prohibits
construction in a colony for which license under section 3 of the Act of 1975 has not been
granted,” the complaint reads.

Yadav added contravention/violation of sections 3, 7(i), 7 (ii) of the Act of 1975 and rules framed
is a punishable offence with imprisonment up to 3 years, therefore, police should stop the
development of those colonies immediately, investigate the matter and register an FIR against
the offenders (both developer and as well as land owners) as well as others whose names are
associated with the above-referred offence during the course of the investigation.
