DTCP penalises five buildings in Gurugam for flouting NGT regulations
GURUGRAM: The department of town and country planning has served notices to five buildings in DLF 1 and Suncity township for flouting norms set by the National Green Tribunal (NGT). It has also imposed penalties of Rs 20,000 on each violator.
Officials said that there has been a spike in the number of complaints against property owners for illegal construction in licensed colonies after procuring occupation certificates (OCs).
District town planner (enforcement) RS Batth said the drive against such buildings, where violations in building plans were done through unauthorised construction, was launched on Saturday.
Around two weeks back, based on the complaints of residents and RWA members, Batth and his team conducted a survey in the A-block and the A-block extension of DLF 1 area.
During the survey, several buildings with unauthorised construction and in violation of NGT norms were identified. The officials warned them against flouting the regulations.
“We have also served show-cause notices to seven buildings for violation of norms. They have been directed to reply within seven days, failing which action will be taken against them,” said Batth.
The occupation certificates of two buildings in G-block of Suncity township have been cancelled for carrying out unauthorised construction.
Meanwhile, the department also conducted a survey to check encroachments and illegal commercial activities in sectors 58 to 68 on Golf Course extension road.
Assistant town planner Ashish Sharma said that all encroachment and illegal shanties were marked on a map during the survey. “We have been receiving multiple complaints from the residents of condominiums in these sectors regarding encroachments and security issues. Many establishments have come up in the area without CLU and mandatory permissions from the department. These structures are on government land, panchayat land and green belts.”
