DTCP issues notice to Mahira realtors for Sector 68 project delay in Gurugram
The department of town and country planning (DTCP) has issued a notice to Mahira developers for not completing a housing project in Sector 68 within the six-month time frame as directed by the department, officials said on Thursday.
The department on Wednesday asked the developer to reconfirm the validity of documents submitted to obtain the licence for the project.
The notice issued by TL Satyaprakash, director general, DTCP, directed the developer to submit details regarding the steps taken to complete the construction of the project along with documents and photographs. The department has also asked the developer to explain the reasons why the project has not been completed within the time frame that was issued on September 5, 2022.
The developer has also been asked to submit a roadmap for the completion of the project and submit revalidated bank guarantees on account of external development charges (EDC) and internal development works. It also asked the developer to clear all pending EDC dues.
The order issued by Satyaprakash on Wednesday directed the developer “To reconfirm validity of all documents and removal of irregularities either by replacement of documents or by submission of fresh documents.”
The director also said the compliance of these directions should be ensured within seven days, otherwise it can cancel its licence in accordance with the law.
Around 1,500 homebuyers have invested their money in the Sector 68 project, which got stuck after the DTCP cancelled the licence on May 9, 2022, due to discrepancies in the documents submitted by the developer, while obtaining the licence for the project.
However, on September 5, 2022, the cancellation was revoked after the developer assured that the project will be completed in six months, said DTCP officials, adding that action was initiated again as the developer had not complied with that order.
Dhruv Kapoor, a homebuyer, said the government should find a way to get the project completed. “Cancellation or suspension of the developer’s licence will further create problems for us who have invested hard-earned money in the project,” he said.
HT tried to contact Sikander Chokkar, the managing director of Mahira Group, but he did not respond to calls.
