Delhi: Illegal constructions in Okhla region are under scanner
NEW DELHI: Illegal constructions on the Yamuna floodplain in Okhla region are under scanner of the authorities. The Special Task Force (STF) has directed South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to remove encroachments in Okhla between the DND flyover and the sailing club.
An SDMC official said the matter has been taken up by STF and they have been asked to provide manpower and equipment. “Illegal construction of multi-storey buildings beyond the permissible height of 15 metres is under scanner in Okhla,” he said.
The STF order stated that areas examined under this drive are Zakir Nagar, Batla House, Joga Bai, Shaheen Bagh, Johri Farms, Noor Nagar, Ghaffar Manzil, and Abul Fazal Enclave.
The official said an STF meeting was held on September 8, during which Yamuna floodplain encroachment matter was taken up. “The order has been issued to remove all illegal constructions between the DND area and sailing club,” he added.
