‘Builders’ cheat Delhi businessman of Rs 1.5 crore by selling floor, booked
GURUGRAM: A Delhi-based businessman was allegedly cheated of Rs 1.5 crore by a realtor on the pretext of investment in a builder floor.
Hansh Raj (69), a resident of West Punjabi Bagh, got in touch with Gurbani Kaur and Jasmeet Singh, residents of DLF-2 in January 2018. Gurbani and
Jasmeet introduced themselves as builders and informed Hansh Raj that they are constructing builder floors on a 270 square yard of plot in Qutub
Enclave in DLF-4.
Gurbani and Jasmeet showed him an under-construction building and offered him a deal to book a floor for Rs 1.75 crore and make payment in installments.
Induced by the offer, Raj booked a floor in the building in March 2018. “They assured us to register the floor in our name after completion of the construction,”
said Raj, adding that he paid a booking amount of Rs 39 lakh. Till December 2018, he paid Rs 1.5 crore through cash and cheques. “When the construction was completed and I requested them to carry out the registry, they first made excuses for delaying the process and then started threatening us,” he said.
When the buyers enquired about the couple, they got to know that the duo had taken a huge amount of loan on the given property. “They had told us that property
is free from any loan and they will register the floors as soon as the construction gets completed,” Raj said . Raj had filed a complaint with Economic Offences Wing of Gurgaon police in
August and after initial investigation, a case was registered under section 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forging paper), 471
(using forged document) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC at Sushant Lok police station.
