About 40% industry land not in Greater Noida development body’s kitty
NOIDA: The Greater Noida Authority is planning to intensify its drive to consolidate land banks. Due to several constraints in obtaining land from protesting farmers, the Authority could acquire 57% of the total 2,222 acres in eight new industrial sectors so far. Even as the Authority has a land bank of 645 acres available to allot plots to more than 340 allottees, officials informed that the Authority has freed 56 acres in the past six months and allotted some parts in new residential schemes. In the same period, they also purchased 42 acres last year. The eight industrial sectors are being developed in Ecotech 7, 8, 9, 12A, 16, 19, 19A, and 21 sectors. The Authority has decided to buy land from 20 villages to set up these industrial sectors.
Ecotech 12A is the largest sector with 472 acres, followed by Ecotech 9 (420 acres), Ecotech 8 (398
acres), and Ecotech 7 (269 acres). The remaining sectors range from 100 to 200 acres. According to official data, out of the 2,222 acres of land, 1272 hectares have been purchased so far. A senior official said that the Authority has been constantly holding talks with farmers to ensure that the
remaining lands are purchased with their consent. “The aim is to ensure that enough land is available to allocate to companies which have signed MOUs with the Authority and are eager to set up factories,” the official added.
Moreover, about Rs 231 crore has been allocated under the Gati Shakti scheme for the development of two of these industrial sectors – Ecotech 8 and 9. The total cost of developing these two sectors is about
Rs 1,350 crore. Additionally, Rs 160.4 crore has been sanctioned for developing the existing Ecotech 10. Presently, GNIDA has 645 acres available, distributed over 344 plots in various categories, including industrial, commercial, institutional, IT/ITES, group housing, and residential. As per official data, about 155 acres are available for the industry category and in IITGNL each. As many as 80 companies can be allotted land here.
