Gurugram: Councillors to raise takeover of private colonies in Oct 11 meeting
GURUGRAM: Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) councillors will again raise the issue of takeover of private colonies by the civic body in the next House meeting, which is slated for October 11 (Monday). The meeting will take place in John Hall, Civil Lines at 11am.
The councillors are likely to discuss various issues, including metering of water connections, construction of a ‘model road’ in each ward, construction of community centre, procurement of fogging machines, cleaning and repairs of stormwater drains and sewer lines, among other developme-ntal issues. This meeting is going to be held after two months. The last meeting was held on July 31.
According to an MCG official, a survey of the 11 private colonies to assess deficient infrastructure is already complete. “We are preparing detailed project report of all the 11 private colonies, however, we haven’t received consent for the takeover from three developers yet. We will soon submit the report to senior officials for their approval,” he added.
The private colonies which are yet to be taken over by the MCG include Mayfield Garden, Malibu Towne, Vipul World, Sushant Lok-2 and 3, Greenwood City, Rosewood City, Uppal Housing, Ardee City, DLF-4 and DLF-5.
The residents of these colonies have been demanding that the civic body expedite the process claiming deteriorating condition of civic infrastructure.
Joginder Singh, chairman of Gurgaon Residents’ Forum, said, “The process of transfer of colonies has been going on at a very slow pace and should have been completed long ago. We are suffering from both sides as neither the developer is fulfilling its responsibility towards maintenance, nor is MCG is handling utilities such as road, sewer, water and streetlights. We have even met the mayor and MCG commissioner requesting them to undertake some works until the transfer process is completed, but to no avail.”
