We paid for parks, upkeep is our right: RWAs to Gurgaon civic body commissioner
GURUGRAM: Representatives of various RWAs met the MCG commissioner on Thursday and demanded that the maintenance of parks and community centres should be retained with them.
Moreover, the representatives also appealed to the commissioner for involvement of RWAs in the development work done by MCG in the respective sectors. The RWA representatives said there have been various instances where work is shown completed on papers but the reality on ground is different.
“The cost of these amenities (community centres and parks) was included in the cost of our property. So we are the owners of the parks and community centres and MCG is for maintenance purposes. They can not completely hand over these amenities without agreement with the RWAs. We also told them that when the RWAs are ready to maintain them at Rs 3 per sq metre,” said Lalit Suraj Bhola, general secretary of Sector 9A RWA.
“Development work is done here on paper. We are the direct stakeholders. It cannot happen that work is done at my home and somebody else gives satisfactory certificates for that. When our sectors were under HSVP we were given complete rights. After the MCG took over, RWAs have been side-lined completely,” said Chaitali Mandhotra, RWA member of Ardee City.
The matter of taking back the maintenance of parks from RWAs was discussed in the last House meeting held on July 31. “I have received the representation from the RWAs with their demands. I will get it examined and then take a call on it,” said MCG commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja.
