Greater Noida: A decade on, farmers to get back YEIDA plots
GREATER NOIDA: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) will soon start handing over plots to farmers whose land was taken up for industrial development in the region over a decade back. The Authority will start work on executing the registry of 809 abadi resettlement plots within a fortnight. And in six months, more than 10,000 farmers will be given the developed plots, officials said.
Authority officials said that the first set of plots are being offered in Block A of Sector 25 along the Yamuna Expressway. Situated close to the Buddh International Circuit, land of these farmers was taken up to develop the special development zone. Over the years, YEIDA has taken over more than 12,500 hectares from the villagers for developing the expressway as well as sectors.
CEO of the Authority, Arun Vir Singh said, “We are developing the other pockets where plots have to be offered to the villagers. In six months, we will be able to hand over plots to a majority of the farmers.”
Farmers from Attah Fatehpur, Gunpura, Salarpur, Salarpur, Mathurapur, Naurangpur and Atta Gujran will be given a place to rehouse themselves in the first phase. A police station will be also developed in the area, officials said.
YEIDA will issue a notification calling seeking objections before the registry of the developed plots is executed with the beneficiaries. While the work had begun in Sector 25 way back in 2011, only in the past two years, electricity poles, overhead water tank, sewerage line, drains and other amenities have been constructed.
“Grassland and thickets that are encroaching upon the internal streets and roads will have to be cleared before offering possession in the colony,” said Randheer Singh from Rilka village.
