Gurgaon municipal corporation to auction properties to recover Rs 15 crore
NEW DELHI: Retail shops in malls and high street markets in Gurgaon will not be harassed to pay property tax even though the Gurgaon municipal corporation has decided to auction over 50 such properties to recover Rs 15 crore dues.
The municipal corporation of Gurgaon has issued auction notice for shops who have defaulted on the property tax.
“This does not include those who have defaulted due to COVID19. The shops and office spaces we are auctioning are defaulting on payments for over two years. We will not take any action against those who have defaulted for this year only and will offer them discount also to pay till March 2021,” said Vinay Pratap Singh, commissioner, MCG.
The corporation has also decided to offer one-time rebate of 25% to owners, who have dues pending since financial year 2010-11, if they clear the same by December 31.
MCG has sealed over 150 properties, whose owners failed to clear dues despite repeated reminders.
MCG has collected Rs 31 crore in October, Rs 14.09 crore in September, Rs 6.65 crore in August and Rs 105 crore in July.
