Yeida to begin purchasing land from April for industrial development
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) on Friday said it has decided to start buying the land from farmers from April 15 this year, for allotting it to investors who want to set up their industrial units along the Yamuna Expressway in the vicinity of Noida international greenfield airport in Jewar.
Yeida has issued a public notice informing that land owners can file their objections, if any, to the land purchase within the next 15 days till April 14 before the office of the additional chief executive officer in Greater Noida’s Sector Omega 1.
“We will start buying the land from land owners who want to sell their land for the planned development around the airport. We will follow the laid down procedures and purchase the land required for the development,” said Arun Vir Singh, chief executive officer, Yeida.
The Yeida has two ways to procure the land for development. It can implement the 2013 Land Act and acquire the land, but that takes a longer time and involves several procedures. The other way– also the easier way– is to directly purchase the land from farmers willing to sell it.
“By purchasing land directly from farmers, we can procure the land more easily and ready it for the required purposes,” said Singh.
Yeida officials said farmers are ready to sell their land because they are offering a rate of 3,100 per square metre besides rehabilitation benefits.
“After the Uttar Pradesh government hiked the land rates from 2,300 to 3,100 per square metre, farmers are ready to give up their land for development as the move will also create jobs in the region,” said Kapil Singh, a farmer from Birampur village.
The Yeida will buy land in 10 villages, including Maqsudpur, Rabupura, Birampur, Tirthali, Murad Garhi, Kureb and Myana, among others. Yeida needs land to develop Electronic City in Sector 10, Film City in Sector 21, Medical Device Park in Sector 28, Apparel Park in Sector 29, besides commercial and industrial development in Sector 32.
“We have got the land in all of these sectors as we had acquired land earlier too. But still some patches are left to be purchased from farmers to complete the development work in these sectors,” said Singh.
