Noida gets 230 crore under PM Gati Shakti scheme for infrastructure development
The Noida authority announced on Friday that the central government had released 230 crore in financial assistance to Noida’s four projects under the Prime Minister’s Gati Shakti scheme to aid in developing infrastructure projects.
The authority had requested 600 crore in October 2022 for its 15 projects, which included two elevated roads – Chilla and Bhangel, two underpasses on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, Parthala signature bridge, and Bahlolpur underpass, among others. According to authority officials, the central government has released the funds for four projects: the Bahlolpur underpass, an underpass on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, the Parthala signature bridge, and the Bhangel elevated road.
“We had requested funds under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Gati Shakti scheme for several ongoing infrastructure projects. As a result, we have received funding, but for four projects. The funds will assist us in expediting work and completing the projects within the deadline,” said Ritu Maheshwari, chief executive officer of the Noida authority.
She added, “We also requested funds for the 5.5km Chilla elevated road, which will connect Delhi and Noida, but we did not receive funding for this project. But we have received funds to build another 5.5km elevated road above the Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera Road to relieve traffic congestion.”
According to officials, the 467 crore Bhangel elevated road project, scheduled to be completed by December 2022, has been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, on this project, the authority has completed at least 70% of the work.
“We will finish this elevated road as soon as possible. The Gati Shakti fund will assist us in this project,” Maheshwari said.
Aside from that, the authority began construction on the Advent underpass on June 11, 2020, to provide smooth connectivity between sectors 137 and 142, and 168 and 135, among others, located along the Noida Expressway. According to officials, the underpass will benefit residents living in dozens of newly built housing complexes, commercial areas, and IT firms in this cluster once operational. Officials said work on this project is approximately 90% complete, and they expect it to open by the end of May 2023.
According to officials, the Parthala Signature Bridge is approximately 90% complete, and they have scheduled to open it by the end of April 2023. Meanwhile, according to officials, the Bahlolpur underpass is nearly 95% complete, and it is expected to be open to the public by the end of April 2023.
