DTCP carries out demolition drive in Bhondsi

Gurugram: The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) on Friday carried out a demolition drive in three colonies in Bhondsi, which were being developed without permission from authorities and in violation of rules.

DTCP officials said that their team, with the support of a large contingent of Gurugram police, carried out the demolition drive and cleared around 10 acres of land on which illegal constructions were being carried out.

Amit Madholia, district town planner (enforcement), said that unauthorised colonies were being developed in Bhondsi and the enforcement team demolished five plinths, and a network of earthen roads in the first colony.

“The second demolition was conducted at another colony, where farmhouses were being developed without permission from the authority. Around five structures, 15 plinths, a boundary wall measuring 800 metres and roads were demolished,” Madholia said.

The third demolition was conducted at Mahenderwara village, where 25 plinths, eight structures, a 1200-metre-long boundary wall and roads were demolished, said DTCP officials.

Madholia said that all illegal colonies will be demolished in the near future. “Out of the 100 unauthorised colonies outside the jurisdiction of the municipal limits, only 26 have applied for regularisation till date,” he said, adding that after January 17, 2023, all such illegal colonies will face demolition.
