Section 144 around Air Force Station on Delhi-Gurugram road, drones and firecrackers banned

Gurugram deputy commissioner (DC) Nishant Kumar Yadav on Wednesday issued orders to impose Section 144 within 3km from the perimeter of the explosive depot of Air Force Station on the Old Delhi-Gurugram Road. He also imposed a ban on the use of drones for photography and bursting of crackers during marriage ceremonies in this area.

Yadav said there will be a ban on any type of photography and video recording of the premises as the depot is surrounded by marriage and banquet halls during the wedding season. “During this period, these banquet and marriage halls are booked and there are no restrictions put in place to avoid bursting of crackers and use of drones for photography,” he said.

The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) on October 10 banned the manufacture, sale and use of firecrackers, except green crackers, following which the district administration and police are keeping a close watch on bursting of traditional firecrackers.

According to guidelines by the ministry of home affairs and drone rules 2021, an area of 3km from the perimeter of Indian Air Force bases is prohibited to drone operations. “So, this growing trend of flying of drones on the Old Delhi-Gurgaon Road and Sheetla Mata Road is a potential threat to national interest, which needs to be fixed urgently,” stated the order.

“The commissioner of police, Gurugram, shall be responsible for the compliance of the order. This order will be applicable with immediate effect. Action under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code will be taken against the person disobeying the orders”, said the Yadav.
