Logix Blossom Greens’ builder hikes power tariff four times, withdraws after protest
NOIDA: The management of Logix Blossom Greens in Sector 143 had increased the electricity rate from Rs 6.7 to Rs 23.6 per unit from July 1, but after an outcry by residents and an intervention by the district administration, the developer has taken back its order for now.
However, the issue is not over yet, with residents fearing that rates would likely undergo revision in the coming days. They plan to meet the Noida Authority officials on the issue.
The company director did not respond to several phone calls and text messages. An attempt to reach other senior officials of the developer group also did not fetch any response.
Residents said that the society does not have a proper electricity connection and has been running on diesel-run gensets since 2017, when the first homebuyers got possession.
Residents have been managing their household with gensets, but the recent development threatened to inflate their electricity bills to Rs 20,000-Rs 25,000 per month from Rs 5,000- Rs 6,000.
Earlier, residents approached the district magistrate Suhas LY in this regard, and after his intervention, the developer rolled back the rates.
The DM said he forwarded the residents’ complaint to the authority concerned.
Anand Tyagi, a resident, said, “The developer got the part occupation certificate in 2017. The terms and conditions included that the developer had started providing electricity and water connections but did not mention the source of electricity.”
Residents have approached the authorities on this issue, but Logix Infratech continues to use diesel-run gensets despite an NGT ban on their use to control pollution, especially during winter.
The continuous use of DG-supplied electricity has also caused damage to electrical appliances, said another resident.
Recently, the entire society was without electricity between July 7 and July 9 after the gensets broke down. There was a complete blackout on these dates.
Residents said they have written to the chief minister’s office and the power minister to resolve
the issue.
The project, launched in 2010, includes 2,500 flats. The developer started handing over flats
from February 2017. The part occupancy certificate from Noida Authority is for 944 apartments
in the towers from L to T.
