About 250 flats in upscale colonies of Gurugram violated building norms: DTCP
GURUGRAM: The enforcement wing of town and country planning department (DTCP) will take action against as many as owners of 250 residential properties in upscale licensed colonies who have allegedly carried out construction by violating building norms. An official said these properties will be sealed or they may lose occupation certificates.
Most of these properties are in DLF 1-3, Sushant Lok-1, South City 1 and 2, Malibu Towne, Suncity and Mayfield Garden. The owners of the properties, according to the official, have carried out unauthorised construction after procuring OCs, are running commercial activities or have violated provisions of the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act 1975.
The department has already served show cause notices and restoration orders to these properties in the past, but the owners failed to take corrective measures.
A senior DTCP official said of these 250 properties, around 150 are in DLF-3 where offenders are running illegal paying guest (PG) facilities and guesthouses. Some of them are running commercial activities on plots earmarked for economically weaker sections. “These, according to residents, are putting additional burden on the existing infrastructure and adversely affecting resources such as electricity and water supply,” he said.
District town planner (enforcement) Amit Madholia said, “We will strictly deal with such offenders and action, including sealing and cancellation of occupation certificates, will be taken against them within a week”. He said other residential buildings, which have been flouting norms, are also being identified by the department. No illegal commercial activities, he added, will ballowed in residential areas.
In a survey conducted by DTCP in September last year, it was revealed that of around 3,200 residential buildings across three blocks — S, U and V — of DLF-3, around 2,500 allegedly violated plans approved by the authorities.
Of them, around 1,000 buildings were found to have indulged in serious violations like 100% coverage of plot area, construction of seven storeys and combining plots to run commercial facilities. Based on the survey, DTCP had recommended an FIR against 50 such property owners.
