Outages frequent, builder yet to set up infra: Tata Gurgaon Gateway residents
GURUGRAM: Not just the sweltering summer heat, frequent disruption in power supply is also making lives miserable for the residents of Tata Gurgaon Gateway in Sector 112.
According to the residents, an 11 KV feeder line from a substation near Palam Vihar supplies power to their flats. This is because the developer is yet to build a 33kV switching station. The result is eight to 10 hours of outages, mainly due to frequent malfunction of the high-tension line. Complaints to DHBVN and the developer have only fallen on deaf ears.
Mayank Agrawal, RWA treasurer of the society, “Due to multiple construction activities in the area, our supply line frequently develops snags. We have approached the builder multiple times for providing us with the permanent connection as promised. But the builder always puts the blame on the discom.”
“We have even contacted the electricity department with a proposal for replacement and getting
the cable overhead in a 500m patch at our own expense. It was never approved due to
bureaucratic hassle,” he said.
The project was launched in 2013 and the possession of flats started in 2018. Currently 150
families are living in the society. “Due to frequent faults in the HT line, we spent Rs 19 lakh in
one-and-a-half years on repairs,” said Gaurva Khanna, RWA general secretary.
Manoj Yadav, superintending engineer of DHBVN, said, “The matter is not in my knowledge yet,
however, I will look into it.” A spokesperson for Tata Housing said that the discom has not yet
constructed a 220 kV GIS substation in Sector 114, which is supposed to power the housing
society.
